june - august, 2021.
this past summer was the first summer that i lived away from home. No Seattle, no puget sound, no seaweed smells, no shifts at the restaurant. NO helicopter parents.
YES living with my boyfriend. Yes late nights, yes working fulltime, yes freedom, yes sunrise walks across bridges and trips upstate.
Midcentury modern furniture, rattan baskets, jewish mysticism, snake plants. Coming home to the person I love, the smells of cooking dinner, Luis Miguel on the living room speaker.
Yes weekend trips to connecticut, yes humid rainstoms, yes power outages, yes innertubes and swimming in the brook. Card games by candle light, Sweet Evalina, muddy paw prints on dark floors.
I think about this time often. I learned so much, felt so much, did so much, ate so much, loved so much, drank so much, laughed so much, and was true to myself. Here's to the summers to come.
